Barbara Kretzer

Barbara Jean Kretzer, 79, of Decatur, arrived in heaven on September 23, 2020. Celebrate! A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Faith 4 Life Ministries, 4415 N Water St. Memorials in Barbara’s honor may be made to the Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County, 3373 N Woodford St, Decatur, IL 62526. Barbara was born May 24, 1941 in Decatur, the daughter of Robert Eugene and Mildred Louise (Crum) Kretzer. She worked at Decatur Memorial Hospital for over 41 years. She began her career in hematology, supervisor and then assistant laboratory manager. She was a teacher for future medical technologists at DMH. She was dedicated to her profession and to the hospital. Barbara was an animal lover and volunteered at the Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County. Barbara confessed her faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of Faith 4 Life Ministries in Decatur. She is survived by her loving sister, Carol Ann Kretzer. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mildred Kretzer; grandparents: Henry and Nellie Kretzer, James and Goldie Crum, and Caroline and George Hyde.
