Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Monday, February 16, 2009, at Central Christian Church, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 7 P.M., Sunday, February 15, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL.Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church, The St. Andrews Society of Central Illinois, The Scovill Zoo, or Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois.Barbara was born March 24, 1924, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Van E. and Marie Smith. She married L. Richard Dick Flanders on March 19, 1944.Barb was a member of Central Christian Church and a member of the Keystone Class. She was a deacon, nursery worker, Sunday school teacher, youth group leader and volunteered for many other activities. Barb was a member of the St. Andrews Society of Central Illinois. She was a volunteer at the Scovill Zoo in Decatur. Barb was a 1942 graduate of Decatur High School, attended Millikin University and was a member of the Class of 42 Luncheon Group. She retired as an employee of Decatur Mental Health Center.She is survived by her children John Flanders and wife Becky of Decatur, David Flanders of Decatur; grandchildren Angelique Fairbrother and husband Gary, Ginger Morgan and husband Bryan; great grandchildren Zachary Morgason, Terra Jane Morgason, Gavin Fairbrother, McKegan Morgan; many cousins, nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Jane, two brothers, and two great granddaughters.The family would like to thank John Diefenback and fiancee Mary, Dr. Ben Esparaz and the staff of Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois and the staff at McKinley Court and DMH Hospice for the loving care given to Barbara.Condolences may be left to the family at www.brintlingerandearl.com.
