Barbara Brewer

November 6, 1933 — February 25, 2025

Barbara Jean (Rogers) Brewer passed away February 25, 2025, at the age of 91 in Sullivan, IL.

Barbara (Barb) was born November 6, 1933, in Pana, IL, to Lee and Helen (Biehl) Rogers. After graduating from Pana High School, Barb attended the University of Illinois in Champaign Urbana where she met Ronald Brewer. They were married on August 22, 1954, and resided in Pana, IL, where they owned and operated Ron’s Restaurant until 1968 when the family moved to Decatur, IL, where Barb played an integral role in the success of the family business; Brewer Distributing Co. until 1994 when they sold the business and retired.

Barb is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers James Rogers (surviving wife Joan) and Charles Rogers (late wife Jean).

She is survived by her husband of 70 years; daughter Nancy Lamkin (late husband Phil), son Dennis (Vickey) Brewer, son Mike (Angel) Brewer; 9 grandchildren, Amanda Stark, Katie Lamkin, Timothy (Stacy) Lamkin, Douglas (Brittany) Brewer, Rebecca Brewer, Stephanie Brewer, Elayna (Eric) Williams, Olivia Brewer, Madison (Trevor) Thorstenson; 8 great-grandchildren, Ian (Maggie) Purkes, Lila Ward, Cara Ward, Callie Lamkin, Scott Lamkin, Alston Brewer, Caroline Brewer, Margaret Brewer; and several nieces and nephews.

Nothing was more important to Barb (Momoo to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren) than her family. She loved them all dearly and would do anything for them. Though it was known that she loved everyone in her family equally and unconditionally, she had an amazing ability to always make you feel like you were the most important person in the world to her. She loved Christmas and gladly hosted the family’s annual Christmas Eve party for 50 straight years. She also enjoyed playing cards with her many friends and family, reading, and working in the yard tending to her garden.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Transitions Hospice Care Team and the staff and crew at Aspen Creek in Sullivan, IL, for their care and compassion.
