Visitation: 1:00 PM on July 18, 2011 Funeral: 2:00 PM on July 18, 2011 Arthur (Art) Neuendorf , age 94 , died July 12, 2011 at Grace Lodge Assisted Living Facility in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Art was born in St. Peter Illinois on May 23, 1917, the first of five children, to Walter and Ella (nee Storck) Neuendorf. The family moved to Decatur, Illinois when Art was a child. He attended school there, graduating from Stephen Decatur High School in 1936. He also attended Milliken University and the University of Illinois. Art married Jean L. Cross at Grace Methodist Church in Decatur on April 7, 1941. He entered the Army Air Corp in 1943 and served in the States and on Okinawa as an electrical controls specialist on planes being readied for the anticipated invasion of Japan. Art and Jean moved to Cisco, IL and later Big Rock, IL where they raised their three daughters. He worked as a mechanical design engineer throughout most of his career specializing in large road construction equipment, retiring from Barber-Green in Aurora, Illinois. Art is survived by three daughters: Karen Tait, Minocqua, WI; Gayle Dixon, Germantown, WI and Gwenn (Bill) Findlay, Elkhart, IN. He is further survived by a sister Gertrude Louise Ellis of Kirksville, MO; brother -in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Shirley Cross, Decatur; sisters-in-law Jean Neuendorf, Cary, IL, and Jean Neuendorf, Tipton, IN as well as seventeen nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his close friends, the Cora Hyatt family. Those preceding Art in death were his wife Jean in 1983, his parents, three brothers Ed, Jim and Bob Neuendorf, three sisters-in-law Eleanor White, Edythe Neuendorf and Marian Cross, three brothers -in-law Charles White, Charles "Jed" Ellis and Melvin Cross and his mother and father-in-law Rolla and Mabel Cross. Visitation will be on Monday (07-18-2011) from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday (07-18-2011) at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery Decatur, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the American Heart Association or a charity of the donor's choosing. "
