Arthur A. Jacoby, Sr., 96, of Decatur passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014 at Hickory Point Christian Village in Forsyth, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL with the visitation on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 5-8:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Macon County Memorial Park in Harristown, IL with military rites by the Macon Co. Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Decatur. Arthur was born on April 15, 1917 in Willisville, IL the son of Daniel Arthur and Tressie (Ledbetter) Jacoby. He married Ruby Holman on April 12, 1938 in Perryville, MO. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2009 after 71 years of marriage. Arthur was a U.S. Navy veteran in WWII, serving in the South Pacific, and a member of the American Legion Post #105, VFW Post #99, Elks Club #401, American Legion 40 + 8, Trinity Lutheran Church. Arthur and Ruby both accepted the Lord as their personal Savior in 1952. He retired in 1982 from Pipe Fitters Local #65 after being a member since 1953. Arthur is also a former member of the Macon Co. Honor Guard. Arthur is survived by his son Arthur Jacoby, Jr., and his wife Marsha; one daughter Barbara Jones of San Francisco, CA; one brother Ira Jacoby and his wife Dorothea of Mt. Zion, IL; and one sister Freda Roberts and her husband John Roberts of Decatur, IL. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruby, one daughter Carolyn McDermith; three brothers, Harvey, Elmer, and Homer Jacoby; three half sisters, Helen Vineyard, Myrtle Jones, and Florence Williams; and four sisters, Ethel Sites, Beulah Gelsinger, Ruby Snyder and Elnora Jordan. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Mark Moore, Dr. Tony McCormick, and to the staff at Keystone Meadows, Fair Havens Christian Village, and Hickory Point Christian Village. "
