Arthur Gray

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 23, 2009, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 7 P.M., Thursday, October 22, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkinsons Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018, or to Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Decatur, IL.Arthur was born January 21, 1931, in Collinsville, IL, the son of Arthur and Irene Gray. He married Margaret H. Fuhrman on May 2, 1959 in Collinsville, IL. She preceded him in death on October 4, 1999. Arthur graduated from the University of Illinois in 1952. He was a U.S. Army Veteran from 1952 to 1954, serving in Korea. He then began his career with Illinois Power Company, retiring in 1989 as Vice President and Secretary of the company. He attended Pilgrim Lutheran Church, was a member of Southside Country Club and Golden K, worked with SCORE at Millikin University, and was an avid golfer. He is survived by his daughter Peggy E. Gray of Decatur, IL; cousin Maxine Wilson and Ed (Barbara) Massa of Griffith, IN; sister-in-law Vivian Fuhrman of Belleville, IL.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret, and cousin Kenneth Massa.Mr. Gray will be remembered as a devoted husband and caring father.
