DECATUR - Arlin H. Dutch Bliefnick, 87, of Decatur, died 9:30 AM Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Fair Havens Christian Home. A funeral service will be held 7 PM Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home where visitation will be from 5 - 7 PM prior to service. Burial will be at Noon, Wednesday July 23, 2008 at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Salisbury, Missouri.Memorials have been suggested to Pilgrim Lutheran Church.Dutch was born August 10, 1920 in Salisbury, Missouri, the son of Alvin and Elizabeth (Hildebrand) Bliefnick.He married Eleanor Marie Oestreich, October 18, 1947 in Salisbury, Missouri and she preceded him in death in 1992. He later married LaVonne Horton McVitty in 1996, and she survives.Also surviving are his son, Ray and wife Amy Bliefnick of Decatur; two daughters, Debbie Bliefnick of London, England; Donna and husband, Eric Scribner of Clark, Missouri; Step-daughter, Jane and husband Dick Bradley of Hillsdale, Michigan; sister, Dorothy Kruse of Salisbury, Missouri; three grandchildren, Ted of Chicago; Tim of Marion, Indiana; Tom of Decatur and four step grandchildren, Mark and wife Kirsten of Falls Church, Virginia; Jay Madaus of San Francisco, California; Amy Phillips of Canton, Michigan and Lori Madaus of Chelsea, Michigan.Preceding in death are two sisters, two brothers, and one step daughter.Dutch was a veteran of the Army Air Force and had served during WWII. He worked as a foreman of the locomotive shop for N & W Railroad for 32 years retiring in 1985. He was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 105, V.F.W. Post 99, and was a life long Cardinal fan.Dutch was a wonderful Dad, Husband and Grandpa and will be greatly missed.Condolences may be left to the family at www.brintlingerandearl.com "
