Anna Josephine "Jo" Wilber, 99, of Decatur, IL, died peacefully at 7:05 a.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at Imboden Creek Living Center. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2014, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3800 E. Cerro Gordo St., Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Garver Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL will be handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 3800 E. Cerro Gordo St., Decatur, IL 62521 or Donor's Choice. Jo was born on January 9, 1915 in Mt. Zion, IL, the daughter of Ernest & Chloe (Stimeling) Vest. She married Newton David Davis on May 21, 1933 at LaSalle Co., IL and he preceded her in death on February 22, 1951. She later married Chester Merel Wilber on June 2, 1957 in Oakley, IL and he preceded her in death on June 28, 1996. Jo was a member of the Stephen Decatur Chapter NSDAR, United Methodist Women and the Local History Club. She and her second husband enjoyed raising beagles and schnauzers, traveling in their motor home and were members of the Retired Good Sams of IL. They enjoyed the Farm Progress Show in various locations and went spoonbill fishing every April. Jo caught a 72 lb. spoonbill when she was 72. She loved working in the yard and always had a large garden. During her stay at Imboden Creek Gardens she enjoyed many activities including Bingo, Crosswords, Trivia, and playing in the Bell Choir. Jo worked various jobs during her lifetime. She helped run a Phillips Gas Station and store from 1933 until 1945. Jo then joined the Carpenters Union working as a gluer at Walrus Manufacturing Co. She was employed at the Signal Depot for eleven years before she decided to go back to school and become an LPN. Jo worked as the nurse in the office of Dr. Chester Johnson. Jo is survived by her children: Richard D. (Sue) Davis of Greenville, SC, Cheri (Lionel) Hunter of Decatur, and Larry E. (OK) Davis of Seoul, South Korea; stepsons Melvin (Dianne) Wilber of FL, Sidney Wilber of IN, and Barton Wilber of KY; 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 15 step great grandchildren, 2 step great great grandchildren; sister Valleria Wittig of Decatur and special friend Connie Wilber of Decatur. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two brothers, one sister, and one great grandchild. The family wishes to thank the 6th floor staff at St. Mary's, the staff at Imboden Creek Gardens, Imboden Creek Living Center and her 24 hour caregivers for their care and support throughout her recent illness.
