Anna Faye Smith, 98, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2024.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, June 10, 2024 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Monday, June 10, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Star of Hope Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials in Faye’s honor may be made to: First Presbyterian Church of Decatur.
Faye was born November 19, 1925 in Waltersburg, PA, the daughter of Samuel E. and Nora Irene (Smith) Knight. She married Bernard “Ben” Smith on November 7, 1947 in Carnegie, PA. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2012. Faye worked as a telephone operator, starting her career in 1946 at Pennsylvania Bell in Pittsburgh, PA. She then worked for General Telephone Co. in Muskegon Michigan. Faye then worked for Illinois Bell in Decatur from 1955 until her retirement in 1988. She was an avid reader. Faye was a member of the Lady Elks B.P.O.E #401, and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her caring niece, Sharon Hamilton of Kalamazoo, MI; the son she never had, Tom Kaufman (Tresne) and their children Skyler and Jill; and several nieces and nephews.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben; five brothers; and two sisters.
