Anita Culp

August 21, 1945 — September 22, 2024

Anita "Tudi" Culp, 79, of Decatur, IL passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on September 22, 2024. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Decatur, IL. Graveside Services will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Decatur, IL. Memorials in Tudi's honor may be made to EQUUS or CIRT (local) horse charity organizations or St Mary's Auxiliary.

Tudi was born August 21, 1945 in Tuscola, IL to Paul and Mary (Reimer) Hart. She graduated from St Theresa High School in 1963. Where she remains close to her classmates. Reunions became a highlight for her because she thoroughly enjoyed these friends. She was a woman who wore many hats. Her most important job was being the mother of three, two being twin girls and did a great job. Her jobs ranged from nursing school, factory work, Walgreens in cosmetics, working for Larry Turner Photography, to finally co-owning a computerized embroidery business for 30+ years. She spent many years dedicating her time to the church. She was in RCIA, helped with fundraising events, lectured at mass, was a eucharistic minister for mass and decorated for every season the church celebrated. She recently got involved in volunteering at St Mary's Hospital transporting patients. She was a member of the hospital Auxiliary Board and met with the ladies every Wednesday night for crafts. Service was very important to her. Her main job, and most rewarding title she has had, is GRANDMA and GREAT GRANDMA TUDI! The babies, no matter how old they are now, have always been her world.

Another title she was dear to her heart was FOREVER FRIEND aka Sisterhood. Tudi made friends wherever she went with her loving smile and her willingness to listen. But most of all she had her group of friends for the last 50+ years. Through thick and thin, no matter how much time goes by and miles between them they have stayed close. Thank you to Joni Manley, Diane Hull, Sharon Unser, Sandy Medina and Joyce Johnson for always having her back. We will always love you for that. She cherished your sisterhood. She was blessed.

Tudi loved horses. She liked the races, rodeos and riding. She felt they were beautiful, peaceful creatures. She also enjoyed gardening and yard work. Everything had to be just so. Her favorite vacations usually included sunshine and sand. Sunsets at the beach gave her solace and tranquility.

She is survived by her children, Chris Culp (Genia), Lynette Hunt (Charlie), and Suzette Mankel; her brothers, Joe Hart (Judy), Patrick Hart, and Gary Hanson (Celine); her grandchildren, Jacob Culp (Manami), Zachary Culp (Ashley), Gabriel Culp-Hunt (Gillian), and Carson Hunt and her great-grandchildren, Jonah, Julie, Cato, Kiarra, Cirilla and Celestine. She was also survived by her companion Bob Stalker. Thank you for loving her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Mary Hart, and her sister Joni Manley.
