Amos Breuchaud

Amos P. Breuchaud, 96, of Oakley, IL., passed away at 4:45 A.M. at Hickory Point Christian Village, Forsyth, IL. on Sunday (05-26-2013). Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday (05-30-2013) at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to: Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church, Cerro Gordo, IL. Amos was born on January 28, 1917 in Greenville, IL., the son of Adolph Dudley Breuchaud and Grace Edna (Vest) Breuchaud. He married Oraola I. Martin on September 26, 1959 in Decatur, IL. Amos had many jobs as a young man, driving a truck, working in a grain elevator, etc., but finally went to work in Peoria, IL. with Caterpillar Tractor Co. in August 1941. His service at Caterpillar was broken with a years service in the U.S. Army at the end of WWII. He served in Europe. He continued his service as a machine operator and later as a Quality Control Inspector with Caterpillar in Peoria until January 1956. He was transferred to Caterpillar in Decatur, IL. as a Quality Control Supervisor. He was later promoted to Gear Technician and finally General Foreman in manufacturing before retiring on February 1, 1976 with thirty five years of service. Amos was a member of Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church, Cerro Gordo American Legion, and the Caterpillar Retirees Club. He is survived by his wife Ora of Oakley, IL.; one daughter: Betty Jean Breuchaud of Peoria, IL.; two step-children: Edward Martin and wife Anne of Mt. Zion, IL. and Jane Grotjan of Decatur, IL.; and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his brothers and sisters. "
