Early in the morning of April 17th, 2021, Amaryllis “Polly” Marie Schniepp of Monticello, Illinois, entered into an eternity with her Lord. Polly was born in Muncie, Indiana, to Wesley and Ruby Chandler on June 13th, 1938. After high school, Polly choose to attend Mount Vernon Bible College in Ohio as part of the school’s founding class. Little did she know this decision would lead her to the love of her life, Kenneth Schniepp. On June 17th, 1959, Kenneth and Polly were married at the school. The next sixty years together were full of many adventures as they embarked on parenthood, business ownership, and church leadership. Polly always treasured good conversation among friends and family. She also enjoyed many things including reading a good book, embroidery, spotting the first robin of spring, and singing a cheery tune. Polly truly loved and enjoyed her family. Nothing brought a smile to her face like watching her family just be together. Her smile was always biggest when her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren were nearby. However, there was nothing in her life that Polly loved more than the Lord. She met Jesus at a very young age and grew up knowing Him. She spent time praying, studying, and reading the Word of God aloud to Ken almost every day of their marriage. She also believed in the importance of sharing her faith, and would do so even up to her last days. As Polly believed reading the Bible to be of paramount significance for every life, she and Ken would frequently give Bibles as gifts. Together, Ken and Polly were very active in the Foursquare Church. In 1999 they had great joy in helping to found and literally build the Open Hearts Foursquare Church in Monticello, a place they would call home for the duration of their earthly ministry. Polly loved her church family dearly. Polly was preceded to eternity by her husband Kenneth, her daughter Linda, and her infant daughter Sharon. Carrying on her legacy of faith and family are her son Jim Schniepp of Louisville, Kentucky, her daughter Kathy Holt and husband Larry of Bement, Illinois, her son-in- law Randy Bowers of Garland, Texas, grandchildren Aaron (Erica), Mandy (Scott), Nathanael, and Katie, great grand-children Samuel, Lydia, Alana, and Judah, and her beloved cousin Toni of Muncie, Indiana. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Open Hearts Foursquare Church in Monticello, Illinois, on Saturday, April 24th, at 10am with burial following at Bement Township Cemetery. The family will be present beginning at 9am if you would like to come early for a time of fellowship prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Open Hearts Foursquare Church in Monticello, Illinois. Polly’s family would like to extend a special appreciation to the staff of Piatt County Nursing Home for their tender and committed care of Polly over the last years of her life.
