Alta V. Brandon-Sampson, 94, of Decatur, went to Heaven Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Imboden Creek Living Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 27, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 5-7 P.M. Wednesday, September 26, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, and one hour prior to service time on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in LaPlace Cemetery, LaPlace, Illinois. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Building Fund or White Oak Baptist Church c/o Linda Brandon. Alta was born November 12, 1917, in Gamaliel, KY, the daughter of A.H. and Mary Elizabeth (McPeak) Blankenship. She married Wert Brandon in 1935, and he preceded her in death in 1985, after 50 wonderful years of marriage. In 1989, she married Comer Sampson and he preceded her in death in 1998. Alta was the owner of Brandon's Ceramics in LaPlace. She was also a member of White Oak Baptist Church in Fountain Run, Kentucky. She is survived by her daughter Linda Jenell Brandon of Decatur; grandchildren Angie Likins of Decatur; Brian McDermith and wife Melissa of Moweaqua; Robert Brandon and wife Terrie of Decatur; sister Arnell Phillips of Gamaliel, KY; Ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Alta was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sons Bobby Gene Brandon and Ruel Stanton Brandon, four sisters, two brothers, and two grandchildren, Terry and Michelle Brandon Thank you to Dr. Muneses and Imboden Creek Living Center for the wonderful care given to Alta during her journey.
