Alta Bergbower

Alta Jean (Syfert) Bergbower, 84, of Decatur, IL passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at her residence. Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Beecher City, IL. Memorials may be made to DMH Hospice. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Alta Jean was born on November 6, 1929 the daughter of Eugene Merrell and Mary Edna (Younger) Syfert. She married Neil G. Bergbower 65 years ago on November 21, 1948 in Decatur. Alta Jean worked at credit unions for several years, and was a church organist for 65 years. Alta Jean is survived by her husband Neil of Decatur, nephews, Jay Mayberry and wife Trease of Decatur, David Hinton and wife Linda of Clinton, Paul Fast and wife Tammy of Kentucky, Joe Fast and wife Debbie of Kentucky, and Terry Fast and wife Jen of Florida; niece, Cathy Knepper and husband Terry of Peoria, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Edith Hinton and Iris Mayberry. "
