Almeda M. (Mueller) Largent, 90, of Decatur, passed away April 23, 2022.Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 10:00 - 11:00 AM, Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown. Memorials in Almeda’s honor may be made to South Macon Public Library, 451 W Glenn St, Macon, IL 62544.Almeda was born May 17, 1931 in Lake City, the daughter of Henry George and Myrtle Florence (Hawkins) Mueller. She married Gilbert Largent on August 7, 1951 in Clinton. Almeda worked for the Illinois State Home Extension Office, George Kerasotes Theaters, Norman’s Cleaners and was a beautician. She was a member of the South Macon Public Library Board, was a Girl Scout Leader, Room Mother, served as an election judge in Macon and volunteered extensively at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Almeda attended Macon United Methodist Church and over the years, taught Sunday School. She loved to travel and was willing to go at a moment’s notice. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crafting and made blankets for all of the grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading and shopping. More than anything, Almeda will be remembered as a sweet, loving, gentle mother, grandmother, sister and friend who always had a positive outlook.She is survived by her husband, Gilbert; children: Jeff (Vicki) Largent of Decatur, Daniel M. (Connie) Largent of Brownstown, Jana (Kent) Mathis of Rome, GA, and Kenne (Jan Howren) Largent of Decatur; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren, and one on the way; brother, Benton Mueller of Cerro Gordo; special nieces: Linda, Marcia, and Nancy; several other nieces and nephews and their families; special friend, Mary Lee Melhorn of Macon and former daughter-in-law, Grace Curry.She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters and one brother.
