Allen Bill "Old Blue" Means, 80, of Decatur, IL, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 with his daughter and his niece by his side. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 4, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 4, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Bill was born May 15, 1934, in Albany, Kentucky, the son of Edgar and Mary (Perdue) Means. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, he married Abbie Jean Covey and moved to Illinois to work at the Wabash and then Norfolk and Southern Railroad. He retired after nearly 40 years of service, known to many as "Old Blue". Bill loved hunting and fishing with his many friends and family. He leaves behind his daughter, Marilyn Trebacz (Steve) and his grandsons Michael and Daniel Trebacz; brother Russell Means (Faye); sisters Wendy Lucarelli, Bert Thurman, Helen Kroger (Joe) and Kathy Byler (Andy). Bill is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois Means, three brothers and two sisters. The family would like to thank his many neighbors that looked after him, especially Mr. & Mrs. Polly and Vi Sullivan. "
