Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Friday, May 28, 2010, at First Baptist Church, 1320 Arbor Drive, Decatur, IL, with visitation from 11:00 A.M. till service time at the church. There will be Masonic Services at 12:45 P.M, prior to the service, conducted by the Stephen Decatur Lodge #979 AF & AM. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek, IL, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements.Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or Alzheimers Association.Mr. Dickman was born November 11, 1919, in Altamont, IL, the son of Fred and Edith (Parks) Dickman. He married Vera Boehm on October 20, 1946 and she preceded him in death in 1991. He later married Mary McMechan Stewart on May 6, 1995 in Decatur, IL.Mr. Dickman was a member of First Baptist Church and a greeter. He was a Life member of 67 years for Stephen Decatur Lodge #979 AF & AM, 50 year member of Altamont #533, member of Macon #8 for 50 years, Past Master Great Light Lodge #1064 AF & AM, member of Springfield Consistory, Ansar Shrine Temple, Decatur Shrine Club, Zohak Grotto, and 50 year member of Decatur Chapter Order of Eastern Star #111. Mr. Dickman worked as a meat cutter for 32 years for Jewel and Eisners and was a member of United Food and Commercial Workers Union #1540. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.He is survived by his wife Mary of Decatur; son Larry Dickman and wife Saundra of Harristown, IL; daughters Melody Ann and Sandra; stepdaughter Diana Colvin and husband Pat of Forsyth, IL; granddaughters Jill Covey, Kristen Dickman; great grandson Aidan Crowe; stepgrandson Ron; stepgranddaughter Jennifer Aughenbaugh and husband Tim; step greatgranddaughter Casey; brother William Dickmann and wife Ann; and many niece and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Elizabeth, and brothers John O. and Lawrence.The family would like to thank the Aspen Ridge 5th floor nurses for their loving compassion and care given to Allen during his stay. "
