Allan E. Ford, 84, of Decatur, Illinois passed away at 3:09 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022. A graveside service to celebrate Allan's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Mt. Gilead Cemetery for family and close friends. Brintlinger and Earl funeral home is assisting the family with services. Allan was born August 4th, 1937, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Perry Ford and Gladys (Wells) Ford. Allan worked various jobs throughout his life including farming with family and cross-country semi driver. Allan was known to many people by numerous names; Dad, Poppy, Papa Allan, P-Paw, and Big Al to name a few. Allan's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and hanging out at local restaurants drinking coffee with family and friends. You could always find him in the stands at his grandkid's events, cheering them on or making a new friend. Allan never knew a stranger. His huge heart and genuine spirit overflowed to everyone. He always had a smile for every person he met. Surviving are his children: Tamara (Robert) Stout; Michele Ford (Mark Maxwell); Allan “A.J.” (Kimberly) Ford Jr.; Lisa (Mark) Hollgarth; Brother Dale (Judy) Ford; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Allan was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved daughter Carole E. Ford.Allan's unconditional love will continue with the wonderful memories we all have. Dad will be greatly missed. We love you Poppy, Papa Allan, P-Paw, Big Al!!!
