Alice Mary Thomas, 93 of Decatur, IL passed away on Dec. 27, 2014 at the Imboden Creek Living Center. Graveside services will be held at the Lutheran Cemetery in Decatur on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 at 10:00am. Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church or LSA. Alice was born on Dec. 20, 1921 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Truman Arthur and Martha Lydia (Samel) Blue. She married James Ellis Thomas on May 4, 1940 in St. Charles, MO. Alice loved to paint in oil, watercolors, and pastels. She also love gardening and nature. Alice was kind, soft spoken and well thought of by everyone who knew her. Everyone loved her smile. Alice was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Decatur. Alice is survived by her children; Monnie (husband, Jack) Oliver of Decatur, IL; Denny, Kendra and Debbie Thomas all of Decatur, IL; Jim (companion, Barb) Thomas of Tulsa, OK; Mark (wife, Barb) Thomas of South Carolina; and Dianne (husband, Bill) Carter of Panama City, FL. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Alice is also survived by a special friend of 88 years, Jerry Phillips. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Donna, one son, Richard, daughter-in-law Deborah (Waltens) Thomas and two great-grandsons. The family would like to thank Doug Precht for his kindness, comfort and serving communion for Alice. The family would also like to thank the staff at Imboden Creek for all of their care given to their mom. "
