Alice Steffen

A gathering of friends will be held at Tanglewood Village, 1293 S 34th Street, Decatur, IL, Sunday, January 9, 2011, from 1:00 P.M.- 3:00P.M. Memorial services will be held in Lexington, MI at a later date. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements.Marie was born October 4, 1922, in Bay City, MI, the daughter of John and Lillian (Jaskolski) LaDouce. She married Clare Frank Steffen on January 19, 1943 in Caro, MI. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1998. Marie was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Lexington, MI. She and Clare owned and operated Steffen Home Bakery in Croswell, MI for 27 years. Marie also worked as a clothing store clerk and houseparent at Orchard Hall in Michigan. She loved being a housewife, mother, grandmother and "G-G". She is survived by her children Kay Marie Huff and husband William R. of Decatur, IL, Pamela Siewartsen of Port Huron, MI, Kyle Steffen of Lexington, MI; grandchildren Samuel William Huff (Moriah) of Lowell, VT, Harmony Burke (Christian) of Royal Oak, MI. , Jessica Nickerson (Chris) of Lakewood, CO; great grandchildren Sage William and Coral Jade Huff of Lowell, VT. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and five brothers. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 7155 Huron St., Lexington, MI 48450 or donor's choice. "
