Alice J. McKenzie, 94, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Decatur, IL, passed away at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Regency Nursing Care, Springfield, IL. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 9, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Decatur. Alice was born August 29, 1918, in Lincoln, IL, the daughter of Asa John and Lillian (Carson) French. She married Charles E. McKenzie on December 21, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1994. Alice was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Decatur, and South Side Country Club, where she had participated in both the 9 hole and 18 hole ladies golf leagues. She previously worked for Dr. Grissom, D.D.S, as a dental assistant. Alice and her husband Charles traveled to Florida and California extensively, where they played golf every winter. She was an avid reader, enjoyed flowers in many ways-- growing, arranging, and displaying. Alice was also a devoted crossword puzzle worker, and enjoyed solving a crossword puzzle daily. Surviving are her daughter: Susan (Bill) Dove of Riverton, IL; sons: Scott C. McKenzie of Brunswick, OH and Daniel T. McKenzie of Springfield, IL; grandchildren: Laura (Russell) Kennedy, Gwen (Jarrod) Clayton, Jason (Tara) McKenzie, Todd (Amber) McKenzie, Jillian McKenzie, Daniel J. McKenzie; and eleven great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Sandra McKenzie-Rogers; sisters: Irene Broughton, Helen Martin, Anna Hessner Payne, and son-in-law: Larry Rogers. "
