Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 16, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church in Decatur. Memorials may be made to the donors choice.Judge Webber was born March 15, 1921 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Albert G. Webber Jr. and Ellen Longley Webber. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1938 and from the University of Michigan in 1941. He began law school at the University of Michigan, but his studies were interrupted by service in the U.S. Navy commencing in 1942.Judge Webber served in the Navy until 1946, seeing wartime duty in Detroit, Michigan, the Caribbean, and finally on a destroyer escort in the Pacific beginning in January 1944 through the duration of World War II. After the war, he was an organizer of the Naval Reserve in Decatur.Following his discharge from the Navy, Judge Webber served as Master in Chancery from 1958 until 1962. In 1966 he was elected Circuit Judge and served in that capacity in Macon County until 1977 when he was appointed to the Fourth District Appellate Court in Springfield. In 1986 Judge Webber retired from the Appellate Court and resumed his law practice as counsel to his familys law firm, Kehart, Shafter & Webber, until his retirement in 2003.He was a Fellow of the Illinois Bar Foundation, past President of the Decatur Bar Association, and had been honored as a Senior Counselor.Judge Webber married Jennie Mae Huff in Garrett, Illinois, on December 20, 1953. He was active in numerous civic organizations, a volunteer at St. Marys Hospital, an elder of First Presbyterian Church, an occasional Prairie Talk columnist, and a member of several Masonic organizations including serving as Commander of Beaumanior Commandry No. 9 in Decatur.He is survived by his son Albert G. Webber IV of Decatur, brothers Richard L. Webber of Taylorville and Frederic L. Webber (Janet) of Evanston, Illinois, nephews Phillip W. Huff (Joan) of Louisville, Kentucky and Paul L. Webber of Evanston, Illinois and nieces, Sara Steele (Ronald) of Long Valley, New Jersey and Ellen Zaharchuk (Rod) of Portland, Oregon.Judge Webber was preceded in death his parents and wife. "
