Albert Peterson

Albert Peterson, Jr., 88, of Decatur, died Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Mr. Peterson was born January 31, 1924 in Decatur, the son of Albert and Alvira (Martin) Peterson. He married Dorothy Jean Ferguson on March 22, 1947 in Decatur. Mr. Peterson worked for 20 years on Illinois Central Railroad and 20 years with Sears, retiring in 1985. He was an avid golfer, loved bowling, being a scout leader for his son, entertaining and spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Peterson was a WWII US Army veteran, and a member of First United Methodist Church, Decatur. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dorothy; daughter, Janet Ferguson; son, Dennis Taylor and wife Cheri; granddaughter, Dawn Williams and husband Ryan; special niece, Valerie Bridges; grandsons, Daron Davis and wife Penny, and Michael Taylor and wife Kelly; great grandchildren, Brittany, Kara, Garrett, Kyle, Wyatt, Camden, Brock, Collin, Sabrina, Chelsea, and Jordan; all of Decatur. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Private family services will be held. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or to the donor's choice. "
