Services to celebrate Heidis life will be held on Monday, February 11, at 1 PM, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon February 10, from 2-5 PM, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur.Heidi was born in Patschkau, Germany, on December 14, 1929, the daughter of Martha Hentschel. She married Robert G. (Bob) Sargent on November 7, 1948. Heidi and Bob met while Bob was stationed with the U.S. Army Signal Squadron near Mainbernheim, Germany. Heidi was a member of the Morningside Chapel Church of Christ. She was also an active member of the Decatur chapter of the German American Club (D.A.N.K.) for over 30 years and was very proud of her German heritage. She was well known for her traditional German dishes and her Christmas cookies and pastries. While being a homemaker, Heidi supported her husband in his business, Bobs Appliance Service, as his secretary for many years before he retired in 1994.Heidi is survived by her husband of over 59 years, Bob, of Decatur; two daughters, Annette (husband Ronny) Cornelius of Middleton, TN, Dr. Susie Sargent of Memphis, TN; one son, Robert John (Bobby) Sargent of Decatur, IL; 3 grandchildren, Jon (wife Deanna) Cornelius of Nashville, TN, Beth (husband Mike, Jr.) Waller of Bolivar, TN, and Matthew Sargent of Decatur, IL; 5 great grandchildren, Kate, Ellen, Audrey, Maddie, Brayden; 1 sister, Ursula Johansmeier of Tacoma, WA; 1 brother Kurt (wife Gerta) Hentschel of Mainbernheim, Germany; and many nieces and nephews.
