Adele Palmer Glenn, formerly of Decatur, IL, passed away at 10:35 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Clare Bridge of Carmel, IN. She celebrated her 96th birthday on September 8. Private family graveside services were held at Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Mrs. Glenn was born in Chester, PA, daughter of Wayne and Irene Palmer. She grew up in Chicago and met Clarence Glenn at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, where both received bachelor's degrees. They married on July 24, 1943, in Chicago. Dr. Glenn preceded her in death on August 9, 2012. Following the end of World War II, the Glenns moved to Decatur where Dr. Glenn established a practice in family medicine and then neurology. Mrs. Glenn was active in Junior Welfare and Doctors' Wives organizations and served on the Decatur School Board for six years. She received a teaching certificate from Millikin University and then worked with the Decatur Schools through Title One. She also helped establish the "Decatur Public Schools Foundation" for Decatur Schools. Both Glenns received honorary doctorates from Millikin University for their contributions to education in central Illinois. They belonged to Country Club of Decatur, The Decatur Club and First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include: (a son) Rob Glenn and wife H.R. of Indianapolis; their children, Kris Glenn and wife Amy of northern CA, David and Amy Glenn of Champaign, IL, Jennifer Glenn Horoho and husband Casey of Indianapolis, and great-grandchildren Jackson and Carter Glenn, and McKinzie, Owen and Griffin Horoho. A daughter, Susan Glenn Lampe and her husband Rich, live in Washington State as do Susan's daughters Melinda and Rebecca Hardwick. Mrs. Glenn is also survived by a grandson, Thom Hardwick, and her sister-in-law Helen Palmer of Chicago. "
